E-File & Renew HVUT Form 2290 for Tax Year 2021 – 2022

The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax Form 2290 is due for renewal every year before August 31. Taxes are part and parcel of any business and it is unavoidable. One such tax filed by Truck Owners and Trucking Companies is the Heavy Vehicle Use tax (HVUT) Form 2290. This Tax must be filed annually for any heavy vehicle with a gross weight of 55,000 pounds are above. Since the tax Period for HVUT starts from July and ends in June the Tax is paid in advance by the beginning of Tax Year, the due date to have Form 2290 renewed for Tax Period 2021 – 2022 is August 31st.

What is a Pro-Rated Tax Amount? Most users just end up paying for the complete year instead if it’s a new vehicle you will only need to pay from the month you started using it. Well basically, if you use your vehicle for a lesser period of time than you’re scheduled to use it for, it’s fair to expect that you will only be charged from the month you started. HVUT Form 2290 for the vehicles first used in April 2021 is due by May 31st. E-File Soon!

According to the Federal Law, HVUT Form 2290 is due by the last day of the month after the month in which the vehicle was first put in service. For the vehicles first used after April 1st, Form 2290 is due by May 31st, 2021. Even though the vehicle was bought or re-bought the owner is responsible for paying the taxes over the next 60 days which would be a pro-rated tax bill.
